![]() I love dressing up for Halloween. One year, I was a very credible and popular ogre-fied Princess Fiona (thanks to a green and gold trimmed Ren Faire dress), and two years ago, I had two excellent ideas, so one night I was the Anne half of a very excellent tribute to Heart and then the next night, I was extremely popular with the J-Pop set when I was Hello Kitty (or Hello T*tty, as my friends often refer to that costume). This year, I'm torn between revisiting the Kitty (since I'll be in a different town and I'd like to get a few uses out of the rather expensive white wig), being some kind of tragic goth creature, or possibly Beth Ditto (I doubt, however, that I have the body confidence to pull that off). But now I'm starting to rethink. We all know that bacon is the new black (meh, Elastic Waist called that last year) and how cool would it be to wear a bacon tiara all night? Maybe I could resurrect my prom dress and be a Miss Bacon? What are your plans for Halloween? Do you dress up? Do you bring out your inner hootchie? What is your dream costume? 10 CommentsLeave a comment |

I have a huge problem with costumes. I can NEVER think of anything I want to pretend to be. It's ridiculous.
I am very blessed to have many fancy-dress-loving friends, so in a couple of weeks time I shall be spending the day dressed as a cat for my best friend's birthday. For halloween itself I am attending crawl of the dead in Brighton (http://www.crawlofthedead.com/) where I shall be a zombie for the 2nd time this year :)
Love fancy dress wish I could do it every day!!!
I'm Halloween-partying with some kiddos this year so I'm not sure what I'm going to be yet. As they so aptly pointed out in the Sex & the City movie, our choices often are limited to Witch or Sexy Kitten, which says a LOT!
A friend of mine dressed heself down in a big pink tracksuit, tied a Converse sneaker to her head, and went as Gum Stuck Under A Shoe.
My favourite however, was finding a vintage 50's diner waitress dress / apron - in taupe (complete with an "Ethel" stitched on it). Accessorized by carrying around a glass drip-style coffee pot filled with rum & diet coke. I had a straw sticking out of the hole at the top of the pot.
Delightful reactions, AND practical :)

I love the Hello Kitty wig. However, I think that a sassy Beth Ditto is the way to go.
I love dressing up too, but sadly my friends are less enthusiastic. I did once managed to get them and Dr D to dress up as Robert Palmer and the Palmer girls though. That was one of my finest moments, sadly.

Well I was planning on going as She-Ra....but now i'm thinking I might not be able to carry the outfit of as well as I'd like.
I'm hopeless at Halloween costumes. The last time I dressed up people were asking me 'what are you supposed to be?" all night.
I've got a choice of two Halloween parties this year, and sadly I'll go to whichever one is least insistant on guests coming in costume.

This is me last year http://jessicafantastica.vox.com/library/post/my-offensive-costume.html
And it was a real hit. I was in New Orleans so waving to the people on balconies really helped. I've also been Attack of the 50 Foot Woman, a devil (boring) and Anna Nicole Smith (I won a contest for that one). Unfortunately I cannot divulge this year's costume until after the holiday. It's gonna be a good one.
I'm leaning towards being Sarah Palin... I recently was a pregnant Bristol Palin for a white trash party...
Last year I was rainbow brite. and the year before I was She-Ra.
