At this stage in the scientific research of global warming, it is clear that , though warming is a natural process, humans have rapidly sped up this process. Hitha, industrialization was just the beginning. Our emissions are now hundreds of times more than even a hundred years ago. Our pollution output is inexcusable.

Toxic waste pollutes rivers in India, piles and piles of wrondfully disposed electronic parts, pollute the marshes of China.

There are floating islands of trash in the middle of the ocean.

And I know, for one, that in my coastal climate where fog and rain is the norm, we've been getting an unprecendented amount of heatwaves. There is a water crisis in the West.

You simply cannot argue that "global warming doesn't exist". For right now we don't know everything about its causes, but scientific research supports the idea that humans are speeding up global warming, and can help to slow it if we try. It's best to do all we can now rather than have our grandchildren suffer.

That's pretty arrogant to make the assertion that global warming does not exist without any form of scientific substantiation; all you did was repeat the phrase "this crazy idea that the Earth's surface is warming."

Fact: According to quantum mechanics, the spectral lines of CO2 (and other greenhouse gases) closely match the wavelengths of infrared light. Thus, CO2 (and other greenhouse gases) reflect infrared light from the Earth back to the Earth, thus, increasing heat. There is no argument there.

Fact: CO2, Methane, Nitrous Oxide, and CFC's ("greenhouse gases") have been measured to be on a sharp increase (CO2 specifically) in our atmosphere for the past 30 years.

Fact: The combustion of fossil fuels results in CO2 molecules.

Fact: Plant life turns CO2 and H2O into Oxygen during photosynthesis.

Fact: The rain forest is being cut down and wildfires have been on the increase in the United States for the past xx years, reducing our plant life.

Fact: Our polar ice-caps are melting and have been melting for some time.

Fact: Hitha assertion that Global Warming exists has no scientific basis, all she says is "this crazy idea that our Earth's surface is heating up"

Hitha, you're both arrogant and ignorant, which is the basis for disaster.

anonymous- although I don't completely agree with Hitha, I'm embarrassed to share similar views with someone like you

fact: you regurgitated that info from Wikipedia

fact: anonymously calling someone arrogant and ignorant over a blog is arrogant and ignorant

agreed, that's in poor taste and class

Hitha's views have so radically differed from mine that I've appreciated her presense at the round table and looked forward to the next heated debate.

However, today may have pushed me over the edge, (perhaps in part due to some of the eco-centric projects I've worked with recently).

If topics grounded in science are slated for future round tables, I respectfully request the panel members bring studies and reports from credible sources to substantiate their positions.

Unsubstantiated assertions do not move us forward.

All-
Thank you so much for your comments even the ones that don't agree with everything I am saying or the way I present it. It's always difficult when you are talking about a subject as vast as global warming and G8 to boil it down to a two minute segment that will keep the attention of ADD readers and bloggers. With that said I am happy to address any questions or points (as long as they don't get too personal) on my stance on global warming. So please bring it on- I love open forums!

And thanks for the input Frau. You make a totally valid point!

I am so happy that I'm not the only one who knows that global warming is a scam. I hate that people think they are being superheroes by not using plastic bags when grocery shopping. What happened to pollution? I think that is the real problem. Global warming is a made up concept to scare people.

Everyone should care about keeping the air clean and limiting trash, but global warming is fictional. Al Gore is still flying around in his private jet lying to people saying that we are all making the world end.

This April was the coolest one in 72 years. I think we need to care more about keeping the planet clean and appreciating the beauty of nature rather than focusing on this "global warming" lie that is just scaring people into pretending to care.

Go outside and take a walk, love the earth.
