Are you a vegetarian? Do you wish you could be one, except that you don't think you could live an entire life without the salty embrace of bacon, or are you afraid that you will suddenly become a humorless prick who hates everything fattening in the world, who judges meat-eaters, who stands shrieking outside of steakhouses and hurtling violent imprecations at diners as they exit, their hands metaphorically dripping with blood?

Taylor Clark, calmly and with great ease, debunks the more popular myths of vegetarianism, from the hemp-loving, dirty-toed hippie stereotype to the idea that every vegetarian longs to club an omnivore over the head while screaming that's what it's like, you heartless murderer!

If you're considering taking your vows and want to know what it's really like to be a vegetarian in a meat-eating world, if you're a vegetarian and you're looking for a concise owner's manual to provide to the people in your life, or if you love a vegetarian and want to understand their secret heart, print this sucker out. On recycled paper, or we will judge you.

The one that always gets me is that people seem to think all vegetarians are super healthy and don't eat junk food. The guys in my office marvel every time they see me with a bag of Cheetos. Vegetarianism is not inherently any healthier than being an omnivore.

I find it moderately annoying that a person trying to debunk common myths about vegetarians only serves in perpetuating a myth by dismissing vegans as "intense."
