Love these debates! In this case I have to vote for both Michelles: Michelle Witten is the voice of reason at this round table and Michelle Obama will make the most kick ass first lady this country has ever seen. She's a total bad ass. As for that thing she said that won't go away: honestly, in the wake of all the dumb moves our current president has made, the fact that we are a global power where kids still don't get enough to eat, health care is for the rich, and people sleep on the streets, who hasn't ever felt not proud to be an American?
I don't like Michelle Obama, and while I'm ashamed of our current administration, and those who voted for it, twice (anyone can make a mistake once), I'd never say I wasn't proud of our country. That being said, I like Michelle Obama a whole lot better than Cindy McCain, who started out as her husband's mistress while he was cheating on his first wife, and allowed him to call her a C&^t in front of a room full of staffers, (in '91 I believe), and didn't punch his lights out.
I'm afraid the women's movement (for equality), has been thrown back 50 years by this episode.
you couldn't be farther off Anita.....you think 50 years ago you could find four gorgeous, intelligent, DIVERSE ladies debating on a international platform (the internet) about who they feel is more suitable to be the first lady of the United States of America? ha
come to think of it.... you wouldn't have this 5 years ago!!
you're crazy!!!!
Go ladies!!
Leslie, women were discussing that 100 years ago, they just weren't allowed to vote or run for office themselves. They stood by their men.
I hear what you're saying Anita, but I don't think they all had the same opinion at all. I have to say I'm getting sort of sick of politics at this point (and it's a long time till november), but at least you've all been civil and mature about your differing opinions; which is actually refreshing with all the political talking heads on tv now belittling each other at every turn.
I enjoy hearing the different angles in this debate and appreciate everyone's ideas. I do enjoy that it feels like me & my girlfriends sitting around (if not around a "round table") but some of the women seem a bit rehearsed. I do like how Michelle Witten seems like she "jumps in" with her own thoughts and ideas, even if they're not the most popular (or maybe they are?).
ladies lets talk about sex! LOL
Amen Samantha
sorry ladies but Hitha rocks:)
cindy mccain is basically a stepford wife -- meanwhile i believe michelle obama will continue to rise up and define her personality in the coming months, maybe years... i agree with michelle w & lady e on this one -- also, of course the way female "celebrities"dress is always scrutinized and/or stylized, why should it be any different in the political realm? image is 1/2 the battle it seems to me.
I'm impressed by Cindy's charity work, and her adoption of special needs kids, long before she ever knew hubby was going to run for anything. She seems like the real deal. Charitableness impresses me a lot.
I can't believe it took 11 comments for someone to finally know that Cindy McCain does ENORMOUS amounts of charity work and is a HUGE activist both here and around the world. She travels constantly doing lots and lots of truly great things. I think her husband's campaign may be getting in HER way! She's forced to stand around a lot more than she's used to.
Hitha's comments are ridiculous. She should have been better informed before making such comments. Her comparison of Cindy vs. Michelle, (or should I say, her support of Cindy McCain) was inaccurate. Cindy has done nothing to suggest that she believes the campaign is a family campaign. The Obamas have demonstrated this throughtout the campaign. The McCains have merely shown Cindy in the background applauding (without their children or any other signs of a family campaign). This is just 1 of her incorrect assessments made on this episode of the show. If we are to compare the 2 women, you should give both correct and fair assessments of each. Not the misinformed statements made by Hitha.
I think both women are wonderful interesting ladies. I don't know either well enough to say one way or the other. I believe I've read more about Cindy McCain and viewed more video of Michelle Obama. I went looking for info about Cindy because there has been so much video of Michelle on the protracted Democratic campaign the last few months that she was getting more media coverage so finding out more about Cindy required a bit of digging. I think I am impressed with both women actually and don't wish to do superficial criticism. I am waiting to see them both on the campaign trail and will enjoy hearing more things like this from hopefully intelligent sources along the way.

p.s. sorry i've been behind the times this week! i'm catching up! :P
hi cb!
First, dear Opinionated in NJ. You (like all the Republicans) are misquoting Michelle Obama. Perhaps you should try to get your facts right before giving your rather lame opinion.
Next, that was the sorriest thing I've ever seen. Not for one moment did you address the very different backgrounds of these women. If you did so, it would be patently evident that Michelle Obama is far better role model for young women than the trust fund, pill-popping, wax doll, Cindy McCain. Obama is from a poor family. She made her way through two ivy league schools. McCain? well, she's had everything handed to her. I would far rather my daughter follow the path of Obama than McCain.
As for Hitha, well she's just pathetic.
Michelle is a bitter black woman. She ran a fundraising campaign in support of full term abortions. Now what does that say about her character. All in it for herself. Shame on her and on you for supporting her!
