I'm feeling old, because I remember when the name Fergie referred to a lady who was distinctly not a hard body. It seems that Duchess Fergie's daughter Beatrice has inherited more than a claim to the throne (she's fifth in line), she's also facing some of the same body criticism that plagued her mum two decades ago, only instead of having her toe sucked, Beatrice's big sin is having the audacity to wear a bikini without putting on a sarong. This time the offender is a journalist for the Daily Mail named Allison Pearson, who is old enough to know better than to pick on the weight of young girls. Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson defended her daughter, pointing out that Beatrice is a healthy size 10 (which is a size 8 in the U.S.) and then received a bit of a taking down in Pearson's next column. Naturally, our bff Kate already has the scoop on the royal tragedy, but the entire thing can be summed up with the phrase "OMG Hips!"

I'm so tired of the girl on girl hate. Can we all take a pledge not to judge a famous body today? Just one day. That's all I'm asking. 24 hours of zero judgment. Can you do it? Do you even dare?

Alleluia, and thank you for thinking this out loud.

I second lulu. Also, not that it matters, but having relocated to the UK two years ago, I've noticed that a UK 10 is a US 6.

I'm certainly not gonna make disparaging remarks, especially against a beautiful, smart, sensible, kind young woman who lives in the public eye but manages to NOT be an idiot. Haven't seen her sans underwear at a club, or falling drunk out of a limo, or being mean to someone else on camera.

I think Princess Bea looks like a beautiful healthy young woman. I am going to take your challenge to not judge a famous body for the next 24 hours. Another challenge that I am working on is to give myself a break and not judge my own body for the next 24 hours... I think that might be harder.

I love your blog. It's smart and informative. Keep up the good work. Poor Beatrice. I second the motion -- emotion (from your previous article) on snarking and wish cruel journalists would look in their own home first.

I think she looks like a 50 year old woman. My guess is that all of you have similar shapes. And there *are* health issues with having that much fat on one's hips. Go ahead and chow down on your junk food!

I have nothing more than a bog old PEOPLE CAN SUCK SOMETIMES>

when this happens to me I just keep reminding myself IT ISNT ABOUT ME...that the criticizer or WHOMEVER has his/her own issues.

(so many people on the NET where they can hide :) have said I look like a man with my muscles...)
