They're coming back, the fresh greens, to places that do not have them all year round. After spending a chunk of winter in a place without an endless growing season, I am craving that farmer's market crisp, cool green fresh kind of feeling. And now that I'm living in a place where late spring/early summer becomes suddenly, viciously warm, I am also very, very into recipes that require little to no turning on the stove. So I can either go to a fast food joint and get one of their weird salads that always taste like the plastic container they came in, or I can rely on the Internet (by which I mean the Mad Scientists at the Washington Post) to inspire me in my salad creation, with the interactive Salad Spinner. It is extremely goofy, and yet I love it like you wouldn't believe. Peruse the breakdown of salad ingredients in the sidebar for information that will make you wise. Then, spin the wheels and pick our a selection of delicious, inspired ingredients, add one of the suggested dressings, and the end result is a deliciously cool and tasty lunch. Hooray for the Internet! And leafy greens.
