![]() I am such a peanut butter addict that I have actually braved the shopping triathlon that is the Mall of America for the sole reward of stopping at the (at the time) only gourmet flavored peanut butter store in the country. I have paid exorbitant fees in order to carry ten pounds of it in my luggage. If I had the ability to time travel, one of the things I would do is zip back to 1974 and grab a crate of Banana-flavored Koogle peanut butter (because as much as I enjoy PB Loco's white chocolate raspberry peanut butter, the jungle banana version just doesn't even come close to my misty watercolored memories). My husband knows without fail that when we walk into an ice cream store or chocolate shop, I will probably be walking out with some kind of peanut butter and chocolate concoction. In fact, if I were stranded on a desert island and could have one food, I would pick peanut butter and banana sandwiches. So this weird new peanut butter powder intrigues me. They've somehow squeezed out all of the oil from peanuts, leaving only the protein solids behind. Apparently, this is a boon for dieters and protein-lovers, since you can stir the powder into just about anything and make it peanut buttery. And it's a boon for weight loss since the powder has 75 percent less fat and a only a quarter the calories of the regular stuff. But what's really tripping my fantasies? Think of the potential! The soups and sauces! You can stir it into milk! Directly into grape jelly for an infused pb&j! Peanut butter-flavored everything! You could even stir it into natural peanut butter to turn it into some kind of super potent concoction that just might make your head explode with all the butter that is peanut! Okay, I'm swooning. Early reports state that it's pretty tasty, but what if these folks don't have quite the love, nay, OBSESSION with peanut butter that I do? What if they are the type of heathen that thinks JIF and Peter Pan taste exactly the same? I'm a little afraid to try it because I don't want the culinary fantasy to end. Although I do notice that the product page allows you to buy the stuff by the pallet, and I have to say: they have my interest. I ordered a four pack and will report back with the definitive peanut butter lover's scoop. I'm all about crunchy, all-natural peanut butter, be it Teddie, Smucker's, Kirkland, etc.
I too heart peanut butter and am anxious to know what you think of the powder.
Bet that PB is SUUUUUUUUPPPPPPPPPEEEEERRRRRRRR hard to get in stores. Plus I live in Canada so there is no Whole Foods. Good luck to me. I am same, I would lay down my life for PB.
While I am not the PB connoisseur you are, I LOVE peanut butter, and probably eat more than I should (but protein! and fiber!). Since I'm turning into some kind of hippie, I buy organic peanut butter from Trader Joe's (it's the food version of Target - I would marry it if I could) that you have to stir and then refrigerate. It is so delicious.
I've got some of this stuff and it's not bad! Though, I do miss the gooey goodness of real peanut butter.
This stuff is excellent to mix with hot chocolate/chocolate milk for an afternoon snack or add to a protein shake for a little post-workout recovery.
And honestly, I've got it at work and like to crack it open, lick my finger, dip, and suck. Mmm.
One thing, it does taste a little sweet. It's got 1g of sugar per serving, which doesn't seem like much, but still, it tickles the sweet sensors.
And now that I think about it, this stuff could be great food forplay for the peanut butter lover.
I'd definitely like to dip, lick, and suck something else!
I don't know how I feel about this. I really like peanut butter, but I'm super picky about it. I hate anything "made" with peanut butter- candy, power bars, etc. It never really tastes like peanut butter to me, it tastes fake and I don't like it, even when I know it isn't fake. So, I'm wondering if the same thing will happen here.
I hate the texture of commercial peanut butter, but I love natural peanut butter, and would love a healthy alternative, however - the added sugar kills this product.
You know what's really awesome? Trader Joe's carries this stuff called Better Than Peanut Butter that's become my go-to staple for nuttery goodness. It's really low in fat but has the same taste and consistency as smooth skippy... I used it to make yummy cold peanut/sesame/cucumber noodles the other night and it was delish!
I sort of like Jif best. I grew up with my mom buying whatever brand was in an ice cream bucket-sized tub because my dad would eat peanut butter on crackers every night. This industrial-size buying also made me prefer creamy peanut butter, which is too bad, because I have to admit, with time and healing between myself and the industrial buckets, that crunchy, and extra-crunchy can be good. It just seems to demolish the bread in a peanut butter sandwich. One of my favorite sandwiches of all time, thanks to my dad, is peanut butter, mayonaise, and lettuce- which is a heaven of texture as weird as it sounds.
Okay. I went and got me a sample after reading about it here.
I take it back.
It's freaking yummy.
The sugar still screws it up a little - but... it's delish. I wrote a review of it on my site.
have you not been to the peanut butter factory in new york? peanut butter heaven! D from scotland
Sh*t, girl,
NOW you're talkin' my language!!

If there is no such thing as peanut butter milkshakes, there very well ought to be.
