The teen beauty queen Chloe Marshall continues to make all kinds of press, including a mention on the cover of Hello! magazine, all for the minor detail that she wears a size 16 (which is like a US size 14). Apparently, the Miss England competition has an official bikini for the contestants and Chloe's pictures are the latest thrill for the newsies. As would be expected, the gossip blogs are having a field day, but it's heartening to see that the misogynist Dlisted blog's commenters are getting all het up and arguing about whether Chloe is unhealthy or not.

As BFD points out, the idea that Chloe isn't all Oh Noes about her hips seems to really aggravate people. Why is that? Do the detractors think "How dare this girl be proud of how she looks? Must knock down her self esteem at all costs! Will not rest until she is in tears and bemoaning her fatness!"

Seriously, what is up with people? And more importantly, how different is the media's coverage when it comes to, say, Kate Bosworth's weight loss?

Can you imagine if we took all the energy we put into worrying about our bodies, their bodies, other bodies, those bodies, and them bodies, and instead focused on, say, curing cancer? Or inventing water-powered cars? Or building a giant waterslide down Mount Kilimanjaro?

Amazing.

People who write stupid weight comments on blogs are just miserable. It's the truth. America (mostly) is just too obsessed with weight. There ain't gonna be a change any time soon. Actually, it seems to get more intense as the years go by. We are dooming ourselves.

...and by weight comments I mean people who call everyone fat all the time, just to clearify, lol.
