Really, I was born too late. That's the problem, and the great tragedy of my life--that I am not a foxy girl reporter in a little tweed suit with a nipped in waist and practical pumps, getting back at The Man by being not only devastatingly gorgeous and well-turned out, but by wielding a rapier wit, a poison pen, and smarts enough to light up a major metropolitan city. (It's my fantasy--it can be as far from the truth as I want it to be, you know.)

Maybe I just want to be an old-fashioned girl reporter, racing for the scoop, because they got to wear the best hats, really. At least they do in my imagination--I make no claims of historical veracity, but I stand by my vague feeling that fashionable women used to wear cool hats. And no one wears hats any more (Lindsey Lohan most emphatically does not count).  Bring back hats! Everyone looks good in a hat! Bring back gorgeous, dramatic, feather-covered, wide-brimmed, narrow-banded, tall, low, fancy, dramatic hats. But if I have to, I will do it single-handedly.

What we need to bring back along with cute hats is womens' hat SIZES. I'm sorry, just like everything else, one size does not cut it. I have a big ol' melon and I love hats but I never, ever get to wear them because they always just perch on the top of my head like in a cartoon. It's so sad, really.

I love hats! Numerous times I have tried on a cute hat in a store and finally decided that I probably shouldn't by it because in reality I would never wear it. Sigh.

That's one reason I like winter (although I'm ready for Spring now!). I get to whip out a couple of cute hats and no one looks at me like I'm a weirdo.

i Lurve hats (and have added this seller to my 'hats' bookmark list, natch), but have always been nervous about wearing them! I have several hidden in my closet that I wear to church on occasion, but I really feel self-conscious wearing them. Where does one find tips on how to match hats to clothing for everyday?

Oh, hats... they are so totally awesome. I hate that to wear hats, I have to chemical or burn my hair to death, perhaps even shave my head. Thusly, I buy hats, but almost never wear them.

When I was younger, I told my grandmother to leave me her old-black-lady-church-hat collection.

Jess: why do you have to alter your hair to fit a hat? I wear my hair in twists and it works; or maybe you could work the hair *with* the hat? I saw some fascinators and tilt hats at etsy (seller BoringSidney)that could work even if you rocked the 'fro. Just my opinion, of course...!

Gina, my hair doesn't seem to take kindly to much of anything without massive amounts of stress. Even when I was killing it, it would exert its will and try to revert into a giant puff. Most of the time I just stuff my hair under the hat, sometimes it will deform the hat or give me a headache. :(

Maybe I will just buy larger hats, I'm not changing my hair.
