Land's End used to be my go-to place for well-fitting, utilitarian swimsuits for all sizes, and for that, I will always appreciate them immensely. This year, though? Page after page of little skirts. Bathing skirts. Bathing skirts make me mad, because they do not hide anything, and they just look sad and like you're trying too hard and fooling nobody about what makes you feel insecure. You cannot see my thighs because my little skirt bewilders you!

Esther Williams, though--Esther Williams knows from dramatic, old-fashioned, classy and flattering. She knows that sometimes you are going to pin a giant stargazer lily in your hair and slip on oversized sunglasses and red lipstick and lounge dramatically poolside with a trashy book, and other times you're going to go flying off the diving board and wrestle alligators and swim laps and you want to be both comfortable and look wicked hot. Her designs are classic, old-fashioned and elegant. I have great love for the classic sheath--it hides the bits you might not be crazy about, enhance the bits you love, and come in a ridiculous array of colors and patterns and sizes. I am going leopard, I think. And I will sprawl classily by the pool and raise my mai tai to you, Esther Williams.

I don't like bathing skirts, either. They seem so 1960s and 1970s when all the older women wore them. But the young, hip women wore bikinis. I don't like the connotation.

LOVE the cherries one! I love that they have my size. I would like to see this on a bigger model though. It looks great on the model up there, but I wonder how my actual thighs will look in it.

It's super cute though!

My biggest complaint about Land's End's suits this season is that most of the suits that have the DD option are halter tops. I might be the only busty girl who hates halters, but I do. My chest has caused me to have what looks like a minihunch on the top of my neck/back (which I'm getting rid of slowly but surely by strengthening my back muscles) and halter tops basically put all the weight of my top half *right on that spot*. Why don't DD girls deserve nice normal straps, hmm?

Those suits are fantastic, and I am dying for the cherry print. But I have another testimonial - I have to say (and I hear you on the DD with the real straps, Lia) that I just discovered what apparently everyone else has known was the one of the best bathing suits out there. The Miracle Suit. I don't really like the tag line 'loose 10lbs in 10 sec' but I can't argue with how I looked or felt in the suit. The one I got last night in a frantic rush to find something for an unexpected weekend get away makes me feel moderately monroe-esque (because of the ruching). And they offered DD options on a number of the styles. I think I can actually do something active in my suit this year!

I have this suit. Unfortunately, the front is lined and the back is not, which has the effect of making the front appear two shades darker than the back. If it weren't for this, it would be an incredibly cute swimsuit, but the two-toned effect really ruins it.
