One of our tenets here at Elastic Waist is that being happy with yourself at any weight can go hand in hand with wanting to get healthy and be fit. However, I have to tell you that while I wholeheartedly believe in this philosophy, I have to acknowledge it's easier said than done. In my case, I'm slogging through years of traumatizing gym classes, the agony of always being picked last for kickball due to being fat (and not my inability, as I kicked like a mofo). Exercise has, in my mind, been associated with doing something to fix the way you are and somehow impossible to balance without having some degree of body issues. But it does not need to be that way!

As a society, we've come to equate "working out" with "trying to lose weight," but really, your body was meant to move. It's propelling you through life and of course you want to be strong and flexible and fast and in general, totally awesomely healthy. Which is why I compile playlists meant to keep your exercise regimen fresh and then in the next minute, talk about rocking the plus sizes and also enjoying the hell out of a BLT with extra B.

Science is now giving the thumbs up to this sentiment too. Fat and fitness are not counter-intuitive. Working out does not mean that you're hating the state you're in, but rather an example of loving the hell out of your body. So let's get out there and show the world that you can be healthy and strong at any size! We've totally got your back. --Weetabix
