I love weird juxtapositions of flavors that make other people raise their eyebrows, but once they taste sea salt brownies, they doubt my palate no longer!

Earlier this year, the Elastic Waist team sent me a birthday gift of Mari's brownies that were so delectable and funky and awesome that I growled every time Esteban even looked in their direction. My absolute favorite, of course, were the caramel sea salt brownies (hey, here's her recipe!), because you can hit the ultimate chocolate high without being overwhelmed by the sugar; and unlike other chocolate fixes, I don't find myself needing a second or third hit.  Mari's chipotle-infused Heat variety was also exciting, like a quick disco beat in the middle of a power ballad of flavor.

But now the world (outside of NYC) is catching up with my addiction to salty sweet. Imagine my delight when I noticed Sea Salt Brownie Bites show up at Trader Joe's! Of course, Joe is my boyfriend for exactly reasons such as this, but the salt isn't a gimmick to dress up sub-par brownies. The dense little cubes manage to stay impossibly moist, considering how they are precut into bite-size pieces and much more convenient when I need to refill my stash. So give yourself a little oral pleasure this week and scout out some unexpected salt with your chocolate fix. —Weetabix
