The Spandex Absolution:
If Rachael Ray claims to be a size 6, is that really a disservice to other women? Come on, is it really any of our business if she's a size 6 or 8 or 12? No one wags a finger at Beyoncé for lying about her age, citing scores of real women who cover their grey hairs. Does it really piss everyone off that Rachael claims to eat whatever she wants?

We Thought They Had It Easy: Hollywood's men are starting to be ostracized for being "overweight." First, Ryan Gosling was fired for being too fat, and then Russell Crowe is told to drop 30 pounds or get fired. Well, they are still pulling more per movie than female actors so it's not like we can feel sorry for them, but honestly, this world needs more Crowe, not less. That goes for Phillip Seymour Hoffman and John C. Reilly too.

Hail to the Queef: We choose to believe that Julianne Hough accidentally dropped a ladylike ass cloud during her dance number on DWTS this week. Perhaps she'll blame it on the wildfires.

Note to Jessica Alba: Drop the stupid Skinny Bitch book and back slowly away.

The Lesser of Two Judgments: Do you feel compelled to hide your assets in the office? Should you? Is it better to look fat than slutty?

Afternoon Snackage: Even if you don't watch baseball, apparently Taco Bell will give you a free taco! For some reason! We're sure it's very valid reason, having to do with something related to baseball and quasi Mexican food, but hey, free taco!

I totally believe that RR is a size 6. Same with America Ferrera. I think people are so used to looking at radically skinny people that they don't know what a size 6 is anymore. Bottom line: if you stood next to RR you would probably think she was a smallish sized person. And that's basically what a size 6 is.

Just wanted to point out... that "stupid" skinny bitch book is actually a fascinating book about animmal cruelty, veganism, and the health benefit of a meat-and-dairy-free lifestyle. It's written by a former model and a former modeling agent... and I picked it up thinking "oh, this will be a funny, Bridget Jonesy tough love diet book" but within an hour I had tears in my eyes and went vegan for a month.

It's marketed as a diet book but really it's health book. And that former model went on to get an MA in animal science.

It sort of reminds of that old Oprah interview where she said she weighed about 165 and was a size 8. Hmmm.

Although I do have to agree with Sarah, a size six on tv looks huge when you think that everyone else is a 1 or 2.

Yeah, I don't like the title (it was just to sell books of course, like any other title), but Skinny Bitch is really focused on getting health through making compassionate choices about food. And if you eat junk, at least choose junk that doesn't hurt anyone (and is maybe even slightly better than other junk!). Maybe it's a good thing if it provokes Jessica "It's hard being beautiful" Alba to think about someone besides herself.

I believe RR, the TV adds ten pounds. Especially with vanity sizing these days, I can see a 6 on her.

In response to the poster about Oprah being 165 and a size 8, I'm here to say it is possible. I'm 170lbs and a US size 8 (in multiple store brans and fits). It all depends on how the weight and height is stored/distributed, so a scale number can't automatically dictate a size range for a lot of people.

I've read Skinny Bitch, and although I think it's entertaining writing, I also think it's propaganda. The book is portrayed as a diet book, but after the first 4 chapters it nosedives into wholesale preaching about a vegal lifestyle being the only lifestyle. Also, Kim Bornouin's degree is not in animal science, it is in Holistic Nutrition, which I have only seen offered at many credible schools and is mainly offered at online univiersties: http://www.shgresources.com/colleges/healthcare-colleges/holistic-nutrition/

and by "have only seen", I mean " haven't seen"

re: Oprah, of course there is a range of weights and heights and that effects sizing but Oprah is only about 5'5 or so and curvy- a size 8 seems a little on the skimpy side.
