We can't let October go by without hitting our favorite squash in all of squashdom: the pumpkin! They're not just for jack-o-lanterns and pies, you know? To make the point, you've probably got enough pumpkin dessert recipes from your grandma so we're hitting the savory side of the orangey veg.

Mike points out that sans the ginger, cinnamon and sugar, pumpkin on its own makes a pretty awesome subsitution for pasta under your favorite marinara. And this pumpkin apple curry may have you forgetting about pies altogether (well, maybe that's just crazy talk).

Pumpkin pasta salad in little tiny lettuce cups? Martha Stewart just called and said Graeme is a total bastard. And this pumpkin polenta gratin is absolute food porn.

We've always wondered what to do with those teensy tiny adorable mini-pumpkins, since we're not exactly the type to create "tablescapes," but pumpkin soup bowls? Awesome. Might be the time to break out this extra yummy pumpkin soup recipe, or, you know, just buy some from Trader Joe's. We promise not to tell.

We love munching on pepitas, so combining them as texture with pumpkin ravioli is absolutely inspired, and this spaghetti squash with pumpkin seed pesto is to die for gorgeous.

Those are very creative recipes. I'd never thought of eating pumpkin like that.
