Try It While Wearing a Corset: Unlike the rest of the world, Keira Knightley continues to cut through the bullshit when it comes to her body. Hey, did you know she's thin? Movie Theatre Style Extra Butter: Do you head to the cafeteria every day at 2:45 to microwave a bag of popcorn? That seemingly benign afternoon snack just might be the death of you. No, not the evil carbs, but rather that fake buttery goodness might saturate your lungs and knock you flat on your ass way before your time. So either go au naturel or just don't inhale. Lick This: CBS's new show Cane has a quirky advertising gimmick: their paper ads will actually be lightly flavored with something reportedly that tastes like a mojito. Only, you know, minus the rum and the fresh mint and anything resembling a lime. Blind Item Eeek: We have our fingers crossed that the singer with the midriff worth baring isn't Gwen Stefani, because finding out that she's suffering from an eating disorder might just break our hearts. Kelly the Warrior: It's not a Tasting Menu if there isn't something about a Kelly, and today is no different. Our girl Ms. Clarkson invites you to be a Warrior in Pink and make sure that you don't get breast cancer. Kelly cares about your boobies, y'all. She does. (Also, check out how not fat she is in the video.) Photo credit: Splash 5 CommentsLeave a comment |

Holy crap! Jessica Simpson *is* ripped. I guess she needs to be to carry around those humongous bags. Mad props to her though. It takes a lot of work to grow muscles like that.
I went to the NFL Kickoff concert where Ms. Kelly performed and she was AWESOME (despite forgetting the words to "Behind These Hazel Eyes"). I was so disappointed by how many people commented to me later that she seemed heavy. To me she looked healthy and gorgeous, not to mention FIERCE.
Hate to break it to you, but Gwen has been battling at least exercise bulimia for years. I've always found it strange that a) after the initial mention of it I saw on a show, I never heard about again, and b) size acceptance and health sites seem to adore her, given her issues and attitudes towards bodies. If you look at the older pics of No Doubt, she was a teensy (and I mean teensy) bit rounder. She's expressed disgust about how she looked then. The show I saw mentioned that during some periods, she works out 7-8 hours a DAY, and she has said in other venues that she frequently starves to stay in magazine shape.
Out of curiousity, I did a little searching for sources just now, and apparently, in an interview in Allure earlier this year, Gwen admits that she has been on a diet since sixth grade and that she does starve herself. There was a quote on another page that she still sees herself as a "fat and friendless" teenager. It's so sad that even after all that she does to get to where she is, she still sees herself that way and punishes her body.
Badnewsbear, I wonder too why I adore Gwen Stefani despite these statements. I don't speak for the site, just my own opinion, but there seems an ineffable quality of girl power with Gwen that doesn't exist with other singers. Avril can't cut it. Jessica Simpson couldn't even touch it. But Gwen? Gwen owns it. I have no answers nor excuses, but you've definitely given me something to think about and I'm going to consider that paradigm when I read her statements in the future.
