With all the bad press diet soda has been getting lately, we decided it's time to ask you what your take is on everyone's favorite NutraSweetened bête noire. (And if you didn't know, a vodka and Diet Coke is called a "skinny bitch." Kind of enough to make you never want to order it again.)

My Sister tells me Diet Coke is "Devil Sweat" so I've cut back... still.... oh, the Devil never tasted so good.

When I drink soda, it's the real thing, with real sugar. But I've lost interest in soda the past few years. Now if I want something bubbly, I mainly go for seltzer water.

I'm addicted to iced tea. It has to be freshly brewed, and I don't like sugar in it.

I have had a very hard time drinking soda since the 8th grade when we did an experiment with a nail and a can of Coke. The point was to see how long the nail would last in the soda. Answer: less than a day and it was gone. Just somehow turned me off of soda.

So, my drinks of choice are good ole water, decaf coffee and decaf iced tea.

A few years ago I just stopped drinking soda for the most part. It wasn't a direct choice - it was a combination of factors - not wanting to lug home the cases of pop, not having room in the fridge for more than a few cans and then always forgetting to restock, and (probably this was the biggest factor) we rarely keep ice in the house because our current fridge doesn't have an ice maker and I freeze so much stuff that there's no room for trays. I might still indulge in a Diet Coke if I'm at the movies and if I'm grabbing lunch at a Corner Bakery or similar place I might grab a diet root beer but usually I just drink iced tea or water.

I try not to drink much soda, sugar or otherwise, but on summer mornings when it's too hot for coffee, Diet Mountain Dew makes me happy. However, on the rare occasion I get a Dr. Pepper craving, I like the kind with sugar. Strangely, I don't like regular Mountain Dew so much.

I know, I'm a weirdo.

Also - I make alcoholic drinks with Coke Zero. (a) calories bad and (b) I heard it gets you drunk faster, so, less money for alcohol.

Perhaps I should clarify something I said. Calories, in and of themselves, are a mere measurement of energy. My point is, if I'm going to be consuming empty calories in the form of Jack Daniels, I prefer not to add to that. Also, if I'm drinking, there's generally a bacon cheeseburger in my future. I prefer not to add further to the intake.

For the most part, I'd rather chew my calories than drink them.
