Montage sequences are probably our favorite cinematic trick. The director could bore us to death with what must have been hours of footage showing our characters gradually improving and ramping up, or shopping their heart out, or learning to samba like the dance teachers at Kellermans, but instead, they slice and dice it and throw it all in your face along with some inspirational music in the background. What's not to love? If we had our way, someday we will have our own montage, hopefully involving a lot of fashion and shopping, all set to Depeche Mode's "Just Can't Get Enough." Until that happens, here are the Top 10 Best Movie Montages that make us want to dance the shit out of some competition, wax on and wax off, and never, ever, ever give up until we've reached our goal. Or until we've made out with Patrick Swayze. What, he was hot back in the day!

1. Jennifer Grey learns the Merengue and also does lifts with Patrick Swayze in a pond (Dirty Dancing).

2. Daniel LaRusso (okay, his real name is Ralph Macchio but that guy is going to have "Daniel LaRusso" engraved on his tombstone) does the crane and also learns the power of love (The Karate Kid).

3. Jennifer Beals dances, pulls a chain to dump water onto her body, and also welds some steel (Flashdance).

3. Sarah Jessica Parker learns how to dance to win some kind of televised dance contest and Helen Hunt wears a ponytail on the side of her head (Girls Just Want to Have Fun).

4. Eliza Dushku and Kirsten Dunst learn that these are not spirit fingers but rather these are spirit fingers (Bring It On).

5. Geena Davis shows us why there's no crying in baseball (A League of Their Own).

6. Kevin Bacon inexplicably dances all over a train yard (Footloose).

7. Kristy Swanson trades her pompoms for wooden stakes and knocks the fuck out of some sandbags in her bedroom (Buffy the Vampire Slayer).

8. Puppets do naughty things and then work out, which is funny, because it's with puppets (Team America World Police).

9. Mulan learns how to save her village from invading hordes of mongols. Also, there's a dragon! And irony right in the song! And she climbs on top of the stick! And has her period but no one knows! It's magic! (Mulan)

10. Ok, fine, we guess the original king of all training montages probably belongs on this list too (Rocky).

How about you? What would you be doing in your own personal montage? What song would you choose to be playing in the background. Shout out on the comments section!
